SARAH PALIN'S "PASTOR PROBLEM"

Your missionary to Capitol Hill, Washington, DC, Rob Schenck, reporting:

The minute I was introduced to now Republican vice-presidential candidate and Alaskan governor Sarah Palin, I knew her faith would come under super-heated media scrutiny. Now she's being portrayed as a wild-eyed fanatical "The-End-Of-The-World" is near "fundamentalist."

The ever-hostile secular media is painting an ugly picture of the current pastor of the Wasilla Assembly of God, Governor Palin's former church. (He is still one step removed from the pastor who was there when she was growing up in the congregation!) In any case, the association is enough. Some suppose it's tit-for-tat after Barack Obama's former church and pastor came under such fire. Still, I think it's only right that if anyone's religious beliefs and associations are going to bear scrutiny, then all of them should.

That's precisely what I'm doing this week as I guest host the Adam McManus Show on San Antonio's KSLR Radio. Adam is a good friend and often asks me to sit in for him when he's traveling. This week he's in Senegal, West Africa with the Bible League. I've been doing his show from a remote studio here in Washington.

Yesterday the phone lines lit up as we talked about the two vice-presidential candidates and their spiritual formation. Today we examine Sarah Palin's faith in-depth. In my next slot on Thursday I'll look at the two presidential candidates and their spiritual roots.

You can listen in and even join in the conversation by logging on to www.kslr.com. The show airs from 4 - 7 PM Eastern, 3-6 Central and 2-5 Pacific. Hope to meet you on the air!

Blessings,

Rob
